Here's how it is
I intend this forum to be a place for knowledgeable people share information and those wishing to learn can be instructed in a conservative way.
About posts: If you don't own a gun being discussed, have never owned one, have never fired one, nor even handled one -- you don't have a valid opinion. Keep it to yourself.
Stay on topic. If you want to know something else, start a new thread.
Inane and/or meaningless posts will be deleted. Anyone who persists in posting inane and/or meaningless crap will be banned. Anyone who bitches about an informationally void post being deleted will be banned. If you don't know the answer to a question posed in the discussion, don't post anything.
I personally hate emoticons, and rarely use them. I especially despise the animated ones that flip the finger. Use one of those and your post may get edited or tossed.
Language -- this is an adult forum, and I don't mind some callous talk -- especially if describing something that was ... an extreme pain. I spent over 6 years in the Navy's Nuclear Submarine service, and I like nasty words as well or better than anyone. That doesn't mean I wander around mumbling the f-word to myself. Let's try a little policing. There are plenty of fake cusswords that express the same meaning without giving the forum a black eye when the bots come around and snoop for the search engines.
I do not mince words. I say what I mean and I mean what I say. Rest assured, however, that I will not unintentionally, casually, or mistakenly issue an insult -- if I have something to say, it will be directed at center-of-mass of the irritant. Too many people today have transparent skins that are easily penetrated because they are unwilling or incapable of stopping and thinking about an issue. If you make a Supreme Pronouncement, you'd better be prepared to defend it, because a belief system that won't withstand scrutiny or challenge isn't much of anything.
If I say it's unsafe, that's the end of it. Getting hurt because you followed some idiot goofball's advice isn't going to happen. Same with unwise or inadvisable. Be advised that I archive any discussion where I deal with safety issues.
